4 Tips for a Successful Remodel
Home remodeling can be an intimidating process for many people. There are many things to keep in mind so it could be helpful to work with an interior designer to help you realize your home’s full potential.
Here are my top 4 tried and tested tips to help your make the most of your home remodel.
1. Create an open floor plan for your living spaces
It’s great to know how you will use your space – then, create designated areas for that use, and source furnishings accordingly. By having an open floor plan, you can quickly transition from dark and dreary to bright and open spaces.
Along with creating separate spaces within your floor-plan, it’s also important to create continuity. The best way to do this is through your main floor paint color, which adds natural flow in your space!
2. Design a statement-making Kitchen
The kitchen tends to be the heart of the home. If your kitchen opens up to your family room or dining room, make sure it has a statement-making design element. This can be done by adding a unique backsplash, custom island lights, kitchen island in a different color or unique hood.
I love to mix different metals in the kitchen for some variety and style! You can do this by selecting different Bar stools, faucets, light fixtures, & hardware!
3. Furnish to Fit the Scale of A Room
When dealing with larger-scale homes, rooms can sometimes feel ‘too big’ or cold. In order to keep the space from feeling that way, it’s important to buy furniture that fits the scale of the room. Personally, I like to use a neutral color palette and add a pop of color or vibrant patterns to add personality to a space.
4. Think through your storage and organization
By thinking through your storage and organization needs in the design phase of your house, you can make sure to have plenty of storage space for all your beautiful objects and necessary belongings in an organized manner. This also prevents a cluttered look on your countertops.
