One of my favorite TV nights is this Sunday - The Oscars! For the last 10 years, our dear friends, Jeff and Andrew, have hosted the most amazing Oscar Soiree but this year they are taking a break, which leaves me in distress.I love the idea of gathering with close friends and family around the TV for an Oscar Party. Even though I haven’t watched all of the movies it is fun to see what the stars are wearing (good or bad), listen to funny speeches and make bets on who is going to win (or should win). So I have decided to host my very own Oscar Fete with close friends! Since it's last minute, it can't be anything too fancy but the plan is to evoke the glitz and glamour of the Oscars within the comforts of my own home. Rest assured I will wear my designer gown!So here's the plan.Decor: Stick to the traditional black and gold color scheme and add a dash of hot pink or red if you like color.Menu: Signature cocktail, buffet station with heavy appetizers, cupcakesSample Menu IdeaMINI PHILLY CHEESESTEAKS TWO WAYSMINI CRAB CAKES WITH CHIVE REMOULADEMINI GRILLED CHEESE WITH OTTO BLACK TRUFFLE HONEY MAC & CHEESE CUPCAKES WITH BACON & CHIVESrecipes can be found at Mary Guiliani's blog

The mood should suit the event, and awards season parties shouldn't be taken too seriously. Be creative and quirky — may the best hostess win!Hope you have a fun night....
