How to throw a Bollywood-Inspired Party!

Bollywood is the equivalent of Hollywood but much bigger in quantity and versatility and above all its fun and colorful.Bollywood actors and actresses are admired in India and in many other countries. The genre is fun and colorful, so consider throwing a Bollywood themed party for your next occasion. This year I co-hosted an adult Bollywood evening and a kid's Bollywood party and for both the events, I used pretty much the same formula. So if you are looking for a fun theme for your next event, consider hosting a Bollywood-themed party.Here are some simple ideas to keep in mind:

1. BRIGHT COLORS: Pick a bright color scheme. Try fuchsia pink, orange, lime green, yellow and purple for a fresh and energetic color palette. Add a metallic touch for instant glamor.

2. DECOR: Use interesting centerpieces, lanterns, cloth pennant banners, colorful flowers. If you can get your hands on some bollywood movie posters, that would definitely add a nice touch.

3. CAKE: If celebrating an occasion, go for a henna inspired cake or cupcakes.

4. ENTERTAINMENT: Music is a key component. My friend has some awesome playlists on his website. Check them out at DJ Juakali. I love the idea of playing bollywood dance videos or even a movie on screens during the party. Some of my favorite movies to play (without sound) are Jodha Akhbar, Umrao Jaan, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Dhoom.

5. FAVORS: Try hip scarves for party favors. They are a great way to get a party started too! Other ideas include bindis, bangles and henna tattoos.
